Unused Photos
This photo was for one of my sub-stories “Running for a record”. I took this at a different race and as my story is for the half marathon I decided to have this as a back up just in case my pictures from the marathon weren’t good enough
This picture was not used simply because I had the time to take multiple shots so I chose the best one out of the lot. The other photo is not so grainy and is farming a better area.
This is a photo of the Williams stand. This idea behind this photo was to take a picture of where all the directors sit as they are the main players in the decisions made for the new stadium. However, as I couldn’t get any suitable models to act as the chairman of the football club and the council I decided not to use the photo at all.
This picture is of the far corner of Ashton Gate. I thought about using this for a second page picture as it shows the pitch cordoned off which relates to the closure of the stadium to be replaced by a new one. However, I decided not to because it was to late in the day and the shadow had dropped on the pitch in an undesired way. Also the stadium is not framed very well in the picture, there is to much sky and not enough of the ground itself.
The picture above shows a backdrop of the Dolman stand at Ashton Gate, Bristol City’s home stadium. This is a good backdrop but the lighting is a bit to dark and the “Bristol City” written on the stand in the background is not fully shown.
The photo above was a good idea of a photo and was executed well, the light was good and the background suits the purpose as well. The only problem with it is that the models eyes are closed which ruins the entire shot. It was unfortunate that my time was restricted inside the stadium which didn’t allow time for multiple shots. If I could do this again I would plan my photos in more detail so I knew the exact few shots I wanted.
This photo was unsuitable for use because of the dark lighting which makes the picture look unprofessional and gloomy. The weather is also unsuitable because it makes the picture look dull and changes the viewer’s perception. If it is sunny the viewer has a positive outlook on the picture but as it is not the reader will have a more negative outlook on the picture and see it in a totally different way.
This photo is similar to the picture I used for my main story on my second page. I decided not to use it because it is not framed as well as the other and has part of a car showing in the corner. Also the pose of the model used was not was I was looking for and his expression is not portraying the happy emotion I was looking for.
